Jan Peck has charmed children with stories on a variety of subjects. She is the author of Pelican's Pirate Treasure Hunt! Her writing has appeared in Humpty Dumpty, Highlights for Children, and Chicken Soup for the Kid's Soul. A former freelance editor for Boys' Life Magazine, Peck is a full-time writer and an active member of the Texas Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. She resides in Fort Worth, Texas.
Herb Leonhard's interest in nature led to his accomplished career as an illustrator. He is also the illustrator of Pelican's St. Patrick and the Three Brave Mice and A Southern Child's Garden of Verses. His award-winning work has appeared in D Magazine and on greeting cards and album covers. Leonhard earned his B.F.A. in illustration from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon. He lives in Prosser, Washington.
