Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Orel Hershiser holds one of baseball's enduring records, having pitched 59 consecutive scoreless innings in 1988 for the Los Angeles Dodgers. That year he was also named Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year, won the Cy Young Award, and was named the World Series MVP. He lives in Orlando, Florida.

One of the genuinely nicest athletes to ever play baseball shares what he knows about the game and about living a moral and disciplined life. Baseball is the most interpersonally and spiritually complex of all team sports, and Hershiser's story is a testament to what a character-building experience the game can be when approached it with moral discipline. He's such a nice guy that some jocks will wish for a few Wade Boggs or Darryl Strawberry stories--something more racy. But his nine principles and his stories about pitching in the Bigs are so rich with lessons that you settle into the lack of excitement and just enjoy taking it in.
