The 2006 provides modern, up-to-date fire code, and addresses conditions hazardous to life and property from fire, explosion, handling or use of hazardous materials, and the use and occupancy of buildings and premises. Prescriptive- and performance-based approaches to fire prevention and fire protection systems are emphasized. Topics addressed include fire department access, fire hydrants, automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarm systems, hazardous materials storage and use, and fire safety requirements for new and existing buildings and premises. The 2006 edition is fully compatible with all the International Codes published by the International Code Council (ICC).
