Impact and Issues in New Media: Toward Intelligent Societies (The Hampton Press Communication Series. New Media) - Hardcover

Inhaltsangabe

Twelve contributions from North American and Asian scholars explore the potential of new media to contribute to an "intelligent society," in which people can respond successfully to new situations. This is in contrast to an "information society," where information production, distribution, and consumption are major activities. Coverage includes emerging forms such as electronic newspapers, online shopping, telecommuting, and Internet health information systems. Particular attention has been paid to how these technologies are utilized by their audiences. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
