Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Cathy Collins Block, PhD, has served on the graduate faculty of Texas Christian University since 1977. She has taught at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, served as Research Assistant at the Wisconsin Research and Development Center for Cognitive Development, and taught kindergarten through high school in private and public schools. Dr. Block has directed and served as principal investigator of six nationally funded research projects and has served on the boards of directors of a number of organizations, including the National Center for Research and Training for Learning Disabilities and the National Reading Conference.

John N. Mangieri, PhD, received his doctorate in reading and language arts from the University of Pittsburgh. He has served as the Chairman of the Reading Department at the University of South Carolina, as Dean of the School of Education at Texas Christian University, and as the vice-president or president of several universities. Dr. Mangieri, a Fulbright Scholar, is the author or coauthor of 87 professional articles and books. He is the chief author of [i]Elementary Reading: A Comprehensive Approach[i] and [i]Teaching Language Arts Classroom Applications[i]. He has served as a member of the Classroom Management Committee of the International Reading Association and was the reading representative on the U.S. Office of Education’s National Task Force on Urban Education. With Cathy Collins Block, he has been a consultant to [i]Wishbone[/i], an educational television series for children. Dr. Mangieri presently serves as the Director of the Institute for Literacy Enhancement in Charlotte, North Carolina.
