Judy Mathieson has always loved fabric and made most of her own clothes while growing up. She became interested in quiltmaking while completing her degree in home economics at California State University, Northridge. She has been teaching since 1977 and is certified by the National Quilt Association as a judge. She lectures and conducts workshops throughout the United States and internationally for quilt guilds and conferences. Her prize-winning work appears regularly in national juried shows and quilt publications. She is proud that her quilt Nautical Stars was included in the exhibit 100 Best Quilts of the Twentieth Century. Judy lived for over 30 years in California's San Fernando Valley but returned to Northern California in 1996.
