Reseña del editor

When a hungry raccoon gets trapped in a spiderweb, Clovis urges his friends to abandon their fear of Raoul and help him out of a sticky situation.

Nota de la solapa

A relaxing afternoon on the Louisiana bayou is interrupted when Leontine Ladybug suddenly soars in, frightened by a big, ugly worm. Clovis Crawfish comforts Leontine by explaining to her that the scary creature is only Tonise Too-loo-loo, a fellow bayou critter. While Clovis calms Leontine and tells Tonise Too-loo-loo to behave himself, a storm begins to cloud the horizon. Bertile Butterfly, Lizette Lizard, Rene W Rainfrog, and The Wodore Turtle are frightened. As Clovis reminds his friends that sunshine is never far away, the dark clouds fade and the sunshine magically reappears.

The bayou critters are fluttering about and calmly dozing in the breezy afternoon sunshine when Gaston Grasshopper spots a big, furry, wide-eyed animal way up in the old oak tree. Clovis recognizes this animal as Raoul Raccoon, but his friends are still frightened by Raoul's appearance and huge size. Like all the books in the Clovis series, a true-to-life drama then unfolds, as everyday menaces threaten the bayou critters. Clovis must help his friends work together to overcome their fears of Raoul and discover that even someone the size of a raccoon needs help every once in a while.

Mary Alice Fontenot, a resident of Louisiana, is best known as the children's author on Cajun culture. She created the famous wetland characters of Clovis and his friends more than thirty years ago. A former kindergarten teacher, she often speaks at festivals and to children's classes, where she describes the unique life of the Louisiana bayous and wetlands. Her dedication to children and to her art has earned her the 1998 Acadiana Arts Council Lifetime Achievement Award.

Illustrator Cat Landry is no stranger to the Clovis Crawfish series. She is the granddaughter of author Mary Alice Fontenot and the daughter of French translator Julie Fontenot Landry.
