This book forms a natural sequel to the earlier publications on Potential Flow and Viscous Aerodynamics. The earlier attempts at the solution of the highly non-linear Navier-Stokes equations are extended to the aerothermodynamics of flow in the hypersonic regime. This includes the effects of viscosity on the physical and chemical processes of high-temperature non-equilibrium flow at very high speeds, such as vibrational excitation, dissociation and recombination, ionization and radiation and other high temperature effects, real gas effects and low density effects.
