Topics are discussed in very readable, clearly organized narratives, with causes and alternative solutions analyzed. Goodwin's examination of teen violence follows this format perfectly. He provides solid information on the scope, causes, and prevention of teen violence; discusses the relationships between the media, gangs, and violence; and looks at the treatment of juvenile offenders in the justice system. No specific source notes are provided, but students should be able to match statistics in the text with material listed in the appended "Works Consulted" section.
