This ironically named text reports on and analyzes the Sea Around Us Project (of which one co-author was the principal investigator), which was commissioned by the Pew Charitable Trusts in order to gather data on the impact on the world's oceans from the totality of removal of biomass from fishing enterprises in the North Atlantic. The authors conclude that we are witnessing an alarming depletion of fish from the ocean and that fisheries are being forced to fish further and further down the food chain, likely leading to near complete depletion unless new policies are put into place. The make recommendations on attempts to restructure the market and improve governance such that future generations will have healthy fish populations.
