KENNETH E. EBLE was professor of English and university professor at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. He was a speaker and consultant on teaching and faculty development at more than two hundred colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. He wrote such Jossey-Bass books as The Aims of College Teaching (1983), Improving Undergraduate Education Through Faculty Development (with Wilbert J. McKeachie, 1985), and The Craft of Teaching (2nd ed., 1988) and numerous other works on education, literature, and history.
