The Princesses were the finest and most elegant coastal steamships on the Northwest Coast of North America. This companion volume to Robert Turner's first book, The Pacific Princesses, presents many previously unpublished photographs including interiors: striking views of the ships in Vancouver, Victoria, Seattle; waterfront scenes; and the steamers at small communities from Nootka Sound to the Skagway.
These famous steamships, still remembered with affection and fondness, were household names all along the coast. Featured are the Princess Victoria, the greyhound of the Triangle Service in the early 1900s; the Princess Maquinna on the West Coast of Vancouver Island; the Princess Kathleen and the first Princess Marguerite, the largest and fastest steamships on the famous Triangle Route between Victoria, Vancouver and Seattle; the Princess Joan and Princess Elizabeth, the fondly remembered Midnight boats, the Princess Charlotte, the "Honeymoon Boat;" and the famous Princess Marguerite, the last of the Coastal Liners, known to so many people for her cruises between Victoria and Seattle during the 1970s and 1980s.
This all-new, along awaited for book presents many recollections of the Princesses from travellers, and insights into the work of the Captains and crews.
Featuring over 240 outstanding colour and black & white photographs, illustrations, and reproductions. Complete with bibliography and index.
