9781550377934: Imagine You're a Wizard (Imagine This!)

A playfully spellbinding guide to the world of wizardry!

Did you know that some wizards are young and good-looking while others are old with long beards? Or that all wizards are clever and bossy and love showing off? That's why they wear such peculiar clothes.

For any budding young magic-maker, Imagine You're a Wizard! offers all you need to learn the tricks of the trade. From where to live (try a twisty, turning turret in a chilly, creepy castle) to what to wear (pointed hats are a must, as are rubber boots for muddy forests), author Meglin offers up wizarding tips aplenty.

Bursting with wizard lore, wands to make, and even some spells to try, and glowing with enchanting illustrations by Lucy Lightning, Imagine You're a Wizard! is a guaranteed charmer.

Key Features:

About the Author:

Meglin (Meg Clibbon) has special powers, but she knows how tricky these can be if they are not properly used, so she is learning to be wise as well. She has also cast her magic on the other three books in the Imagine This! series.

Lucy Lightning (Lucy Clibbon) is inspired by the mysterious and magical world of wizards. Her enchanting illustrations also adorn Imagine You're a Fairy!, Imagine You're a Pirate!, and Imagine You're a Mermaid!.

Review:

Guide readers through the ins and outs of beginner's wizardry, including necessary accessories, secret codes, spells and brief bios on famous wizards. (Publishers Weekly 2003-11-17)

Full of the author's lore about magicians and what to do to become one... illustrations are whimsical and childlike. (Be Astengo School Library Journal)

Child-like painted illustrations and limited text may appeal to reluctant readers. Discussions about the mysteries associated with wizards, such as books, reading, and special knowledge, might also encourage reluctant readers to see the magic of books. Reference to the Arthurian legends and Tolkien's Hobbit and "Lord of the Rings" trilogy may encourage parents and children to explore the genre of fantasy. (Denise Weir Canadian Materials 2003-10-31)
