Advances in both pathophysiology and treatments of migraine headache will be featured in the new edition. An update of the Acute Migraine Therapy chapter will be include a review comparison of new triptans that have become available since the initial publication. Preventative therapies are reviewed thoroughly. There are a number of trials underway dealing specifically with Valproic Acid, Gabapentin and Botulinum Toxin.

In cluster headache there is additional information on PET and functional MRI studies that deal with pathophysiology. In addition to this, there are data that suggest Topiramate may be useful for prophylaxis of cluster headache.
