Exercise One: Facing Who You are Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. In through your nose and out through your mouth. Imagine in front of your there is a set of stairs. At the top of the stairs in a door. Picture that door. What does it look like? Focus on it as you climb the stairs. Each step you take count. When you get to 100 you should be at the top of the stairs. Welcome to your room. This is your room. Everything about it is your creation. This room holds your happiness, your fears, and even your sadness. There is no stress. There is no judgement. This is all about you. In your room there are three very important things. One is a desk. This is where you will sit and write. You can process everything and nothing just by sitting here. As you focus on your desk, your room will come alive before you. You will notice things about you that you hadn’t noticed before. Your desk has drawers. The things stored there are feelings and memories that you have had and haven’t wanted to let go off. These control your daily life. You have an unlimited supply of paper and all your favorite writing tools. As you write you will discover the things that you hadn’t wanted to face. It’s not scary. There is no one here to judge you. It’s time to face those fears. Write them. Focus on what you are hiding from yourself. You are in control here.
