Inhaltsangabe

Author Jon Pollock was inspired to write his debut book, Questions for Kids, by the conversations he had within his own family. In this guide, he uses innovative questions to inspire children to step away from their screens and engage in informative discussions.

When Pollock was in the middle of writing his book, he was asked by a friend whether he was going to provide the answers also. Pollock knew that this wasn’t the purpose of the book. Questions for Kids recognizes that there are no standardized answers for the biggest questions we face in life, like “How do you know if someone loves you?” or “When will you be an adult?” Each person needs to discover the answer for him- or herself.

Instead, Pollock’s innovative guide gives you the tools needed to approach these questions with your children. He hopes that you will ask them a variety of the questions included and truly listen to their answers. Your children may surprise you with their emotional intelligence and maturity. They may even have questions of their own. Each one of the seven hundred questions included could spark an entire evening of important family discussion.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Jon Pollock grew up in University City, Missouri along with two sisters, a brother, and multiple pets. While attending Washington University, Jon married Janie Shuman, an art student from Boston, Massachusetts.

After graduation Jon worked for Sachs Electric and in 1977 opened their Houston branch office. In 1983 he launched Pollock Electric with only one contract and three employees. This Houston firm grew to $20 million in sales when in 1998 Pollock helped create Integrated Electrical Services, a NYSE company. Within two years they acquired eighty-three US companies and were doing $1.6 billion in sales. Jon retired in 2001 and bought a condo in Coronado, California.

Two years later, however, he flunked retirement and started Trio Electric in Houston. This company has become a major player and was eventually purchased by his son Beau Pollock.

Jon and Janie have three kids and seven grandkids all living nearby in Houston.
