I was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. After my civilian service, I did the hippie trail, traveling over land to Indonesia over the course of one year. On my way in Kerala, India, I was attacked by a wild elephant. I should have died, but somewhat miraculously I survived. Life was given to me for a second time, and I set out to find its secret. I studied philosophy for seven years and wrote twelve books. I strived for atheistical enlightenment, but the thought of death made that pursuit pointless. The concept of transhumanism and singularity came my way as an answer to the purpose of human life. However, the question remained: How could I become part of that future, contribute to its development, and eventually overcome death? In parallel I had done an additional training in design thinking and co-founded two organizations in the field of education and smart cities. At some point, I gave in to the accumulating coaching requests and started to work as a freelance design thinking and business model innovation coach for big companies and start-up incubators. I became deeply fascinated by exponential technologies and the subsequent opportunities. One of my challenges for 2017 is to design or iterate one business model every day, in order to come up with one that is worth giving up my coaching career. Let’s see what comes out of it. I trust in science and technology and try to make logical prediction based on their facts. I love to live the good life, while at the same time constantly fostering my personal evolution. There is one question that guides my life: What is the potential? When I apply this question to my life in general, the answer is: life extension. When it comes to death, I’ve become an ironist in the sense of Richard Rorty: I have made my peace with death and accepted my own mortality. Still, I do anything I can to fight it and make aging and death optional in the future.
