Understanding and developing school climate is the most important factor in building a successful school. School climate is what our business is about and it determines the direction in which a school will grow. It is the lifeline and connecting tissue between students and teachers, students and administrators, and staff and administration. Most importantly, a school’s climate will determine the type of relationship you have with your community’s teachers, students, parents and families. Over the course of this manual the author will touch upon ten points that are the most non-negotiable areas of focus in the daily running of a building. They are all pieces to the school climate puzzle. With an even determination to the policies and ideas put forth in this guide, you will be on your way to having a school built upon trust, respect, responsibility, and safety.
