Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Eric Sutton is a registered patent attorney who manages the Java, Internet of Things, PeopleSoft, Enterprise Manager, BlueKai, Responsys, Datalogix, Eloqua, BigMachines, and Social Relationship Management patent portfolios as Senior Patent Counsel at Oracle in Redwood Shores, California. At Oracle, Eric also runs an inter-company patent quality study, which recently culminated in submissions to the USPTO as part of the Enhanced Patent Quality Initiative and an article published on IP Watchdog. Since 2012, Eric has also served as Adjunct Professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he currently teaches Software Patents: A Practical Perspective. In addition to teaching his course in Chicago, Eric regularly presents on patent quality, efficient patent prosecution, portfolio management, and Alice-related topics. Earlier in his career, Eric served on the front lines as a patent prosecutor at Hickman Palermo in San Jose, California, and as a law clerk at Singleton Law Firm in Champaign, Illinois. Eric received a Certificate in Intellectual Property when he graduated from The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, in 2008. Eric is also grateful for his software development experience at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, his undergraduate roots at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and even his high school roots at the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy.
