In 1937 the coal tonnage produced was this is an increase of tons over 1936. This tonnage was produced by 382 licensed coal mines, employing an average number of miners, who worked man-days.

Of the 382 licensed coal mines, only 87 have railroad connection, the balance being served by trucks and wagons.
