In 'meeting here tonight we are per haps inaugurating a new era in. Lehigh's athletics, and yet in another sense it is a return to the old regime. I mean that in the old days athletics grew up out of the student body with very little encourage ment from faculty or alumni. In fact, the belief of the undergraduates in those days that the faculty was opposed to athletics was one of the best stimulants of undergraduate interest.
