The student of education who desires to make a thorough study of a problem faces the task of locating the published material relating to it. Usually, the compilation of a complete bibliography is no easy undertaking, because, in addition to a multitude of textbooks, well known periodicals, and monograph, yearbook, and bulletin series, there are a vast number of other publications that are less widely known or distributed. The task is further complicated by the fact that few if any of our educational periodicals restrict the material included in them to a particular phase of education. Furthermore, references per taining to a given topic are likely to be found in certain periodicals that do not emphasize primarily the subject of education.
