Excerpt from Mehl's Numismatic Monthly
Many of my friends think the first number fine. It was all right for a starter but it does not represent the quality I intend to give my readers. I am pleased to call attention to the marked degree of improvement in this number over the last issue. I know that there are many improvements yet to be made, but it is practically impos sible to make them all at one time. I intend to improve the monthly from time to time, bringing it up to a standard worthy of the respect and patronage of the numismatic world, and in the meantime publishing all that is pertinent and interesting in things numismatic. Original articles will appear in every issue. While the number of subscribers received through the first number of the monthly was great. There remains a number of collectors from whom I would like to hear with their subscription. Any col lector, if there be a spark of collecting enthusiasm in his anatomy, will not pass up this numismatic journal at,so cents per year. Sub scription blanks enclosed for your convenience. If not a subscriber.
