It is curious to observe that when Judge Platt arrives nearly to the conclusion of the reasons of his award, and becomes somewhat warm in his defence, his confidence in creases, or rather his caution decreases, and he draps the word compensation, which was the word he had really used, as appears by his own statement, -(p. 6) and substitutes the term commission, which better suits his purpose. (see Report p. I dissent from the truth of the statement there made, that the arbitrators informed the parties that a reasonable commission would be charged.
