Daubigny, lost too early to art a short time since, was a twilight dreamer by river banks, a poet of grave and vibrating notes. Inimita ble for breadth and sweetness. The charm of his limpid rivers, his green banks set with shadowy cottage walls and sleeping under the evening star, has never been exceeded. The collection contains a characteristic example of his pensive, noble style.
