Doubtless, as things now are, ministers' vacations must needs be. But, if necessary, they are a necessary evil. The pastor whose delight is in his labor looks forward to the approaching month of rest with like feeling to that with which the eager student, warned by droop ing eyelids and failing attention, watches the pointer moving on to the inevitable hour of bed time; and wonders why it is that vaca tions should be looked upon nowadays as a universal necessity, when, in the days of our grandfathers, the very word vacation was only a word for school-boys.
