Über die Autorinnen und Autoren

Nicola qualified as a solicitor in Scotland in1996 and has been helping families plan for the future for the last 12 years. She co-founded Cairn Legal and Cairn Trust Management which specialises in advising clients on how the law can support those with a learning disability, dementia, a brain injury or reduced capacity for any other reason. She is a member of the Law Society of Scotland's Committee on Mental Health and Disability and has a particular interest in initiative models of assisted decision making. She contributes to the Scottish Older Client Law Service and co-wrote Adult Protection and the Law in Scotland (with Hilary Patrick).

Nairn Young studied at the Universities of Glasgow and Edinburgh and was admitted as a solicitor in 2007. He trained and worked at North Lanarkshire Council, where he was closely involved in the establishment of the Adult Protection Committee and the implementation of the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007. Since 2016, he has worked as Assistant Managing Solicitor at Renfrewshire Council, with responsibility for their litigation team. He is the co-author (with Nicola Smith) of Adult Protection and the Law in Scotland (2nd edn) which was published in 2016.
