Police Dogs are Fun!: The Story of Police Dog Triton - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

‘Stop, or I’ll send the Dog!’ Join in the fun with PC Steve Lewis and his beloved Police Dog Triton, as they meet both the law abiding and some of the rather less law abiding citizens of Birmingham in the 1970's. In this light hearted, sometimes hilarious and occasionally gritty set of stories about Steve and Triton's adventures, you will join them as they deal with burglars, car thieves, drug dealers and the occasional flasher. You will also learn the basics of the art of tracking with a dog, how not to approach premises in a panda car and why it is generally a bad idea to get in front of a police dog and his handler during a foot chase! 'Police Dogs are Fun!' will take you back in time into the streets of Birmingham as viewed by a busy police dog handler and his dog. Prepare to laugh out loud (or at the very least, chuckle) at some of their exploits. You may even shed a tear or two. This book is a revised and expanded version of ‘Triton: A Police Dog’s Tale’ ISBN-13: 978-0851640532, originally published in 1992 by the Police Review Publishing Company. Please note that the paperback version of this book will print into a slim 6" x 9" format. About the author Steve Lewis joined Birmingham City Police as a raw recruit in 1965. After 4 years service he transferred to the Dog Section and, after the Force was amalgamated into the West Midlands Police, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1976, still working with his first beloved Police Dog Triton. During 26 years as a Dog Handler, Steve was privileged to handle three dogs in all, with Sonny and Dusty following in Triton’s illustrious paw prints. Steve retired in 1995, after serving for 30 years as a Police Officer and now lives in Wales with his lovely wife Ann. Dusty was 9 years old at the time and lived on for another 5 years in happy retirement. Two Golden Retriever / Labrador Cross Breed, brother and sister, Mack and Mabel, (don't ask) followed, for a long time, and Steve and Ann now have a beautiful female German Shepherd whose name is Gena (and who is frighteningly intelligent). You might just detect from the above, that all their dogs, although well trained, have also been much loved!
