Michael is a young Greek boy, born in America shortly after World War Two. He lives in a world dominated by his Grandfather, in a section of Greece located in an apartment in a New England mill city. His story is one of patriarchy, violence and alcohol where his father and uncles recuperate from the harrowing experiences of combat, and his aunt struggles under the demands of a culture which at times is so alien to America's.
