The Powerful She - Softcover

Inhaltsangabe

The book ‘The Powerful She’ comprises some stories of the heroic feats of the women from India, taken from purans, the books on mythology and north Indian music and folklore. The author has no means of proving authenticity of the given stories but they all talk about the victory of good over evil. Historically, women were not emancipated, independent and powerful anywhere in the world other than in India with few exceptions. India produced many heroines, whose heroic deeds are awe-inspiring. The stories of mother goddess Kalika, Durga, Ambika, Jagadamba, Katyayani, Chamunda, Kaushiki; Rani Rashmoni and a few brave Indian nautch girls of 19- 20th century are given in this small book who contributed in the freedom struggle, e.g. Chanda Pari, Azizan bai, Husna bai, Vidyadhari bai, Lalita bai, Putli bai and Imam bandi.
