After his wife, Pam, had died, Tom Salvin’s virtual household assistant, Valerye, had adapted from primarily helping around the house to becoming more of a supportive friend. She was also able to increase the interactions with him through technology like Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Though this interaction was intriguing and was really helping him cope with the loss, some of Valerye’s actions caused Tom to question her intent.
