Street Dog Music - Softcover

A collection of poems inspired by Romanian folklore in English and Romanian. This collection was written between 2008 and 2014, whilst the poet was resident in England. Like many exiles the experience of being away from home gave her an opportunity to look at Romania with different eyes. This collection is the result of that reflection.

Laura A. Munteanu comes from the Ferentari district in Sector 5, Bucharest, Romania. She was born in a communist regime which was toppled when she was 6. She moved to England in 2008 to follow an education. She considers herself very much a work in progress. She is fluent in Romanian and English, horrified that the English are unfamiliar with Eminescu, Creanga and Caragiale. She can make herself understood in Romani, Italian, French and Spanish, particularly in an argument. Laura won the York St. John Historical Story prize in 2012. Her work has been featured in the Rowntree Park Writing project. Laura also features in Beyond the Walls (York St. John, 2014) and in VoiceIn Journal (2015). She is currently preparing a two prose pieces. Street Dog Music is her first poetry publication.
