Ruth Lanier Hester of McKenzie, Alabama, says she got her literary Longings from Sidney Lanier and her determination from General Robert E. Lee. Ruth's Father, William Thomas Lanier, was fifth cousin to Sidney Lanier; and her Grandmother, Elizabeth Lee Smith, was granddaughter of General Lee's brother. She was born in rural Conecuh County, in south central Alabama, U.S.A. on May 12, 1925. After losing her mother to Malaria Fever in 1927, she was raised through years of the Great Depression. She always had a overwhelming urge to write. Be it stories, poetry, or lyrics, she excelled in the literary field. Education: Graduate of, McKenzie High School, Massey Draughn Business College in Montgomery, Alabama. Courses in Journalism and Poetry. Columnist in The Evergreen Courant Weekly, as well as her blog on the world wide web. Her many memberships includes or included, Local and National League of AMERICAN PENWOMEN (V.P. Selma-Montgomery Br.1977) Alabama State Poetry Society, Mobile Pensters, Montgomery Creative Writers, Avalon World Arts Academy, Alabama Writers Conclave, Centro Studi E Scambi Internazionali. Publications include a play, "The Decree of Esther", the book "War Babies and Peace Mongers", over 100 poems in journals and magazines. Recip. Also included in the National and International Who's Who of Writers. Through the many years of her life she has lost two infants, a Husband, Father, Mother, Two of three Brothers. At the time of publication of this book, she is a chipper Ninety years old and is a devout Christian. She is an inspiration for many and loved by everyone that knows her.
