Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Steven D. Staugaitis, Ph.D. Dr. Steven Staugaitis is on the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Department of Family Medicine and Community Health where he provides support to the E.K. Shriver Center, Center for Developmental Disabilities Evaluation and Research. Steve has over 40 years of direct experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and in administering local, regional and statewide programs and services. He is a licensed clinical psychologist who has managed large I/DD facilities and regional support systems serving people with disabilities. Steve has been a consultant to a variety of state and private provider I/DD organizations within the United States, providing technical assistance, training and support in the areas of risk management, program and systems evaluation and quality assurance and improvement. He has been a principal investigator on a number of federal grants, including a grant from the National Institutes of Health (#5 R42 HD063179-03) that supported the development of the series of on-line courses entitled: Risk Management in DD. Emily Lauer, MPH Emily Lauer is on the faculty of the University of Massachusetts Medical School, Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and at the E.K. Shriver Center, Center for Developmental Disabilities Evaluation and Research. She has a master’s degree in public health in biostatistics. Emily has worked in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 12 years. She works closely with public and private disability service agencies and government organizations to help them utilize best practice approaches to health and risk surveillance as a tool for implementing targeted improvements to health and service quality. Emily has been collecting and analyzing information on morbidity and mortality trends in people with disabilities for over a decade. Together with Dr. Steven Staugaitis, she has co-authored Using Data as a Quality Tool in DD as well as other offerings in the Risk Management in DD series of on-line courses and books.
