Just graduated from the University of Illinois, Bob Downs was planning a future as a newspaperman. A North Korean dictator changed all that. Realizing he was going to be in the military in some capacity or another, the thought crossed his mind that it might be interesting to pilot an airplane. That led him to Air Force pilot training and from there to a 55 year career piloting an assortment of airplanes and various jobs in the Air Force and the civilian world along with side trips into the world of high mountain climbing and other adventures. His achievements and his mistakes make for entertaining and rewarding reading.
