"If this book shall teach any how to make the most of the life God has entrusted to them, that will be reward enough for the work of its preparation." And so begins 19th century pastor J.R. Miller's book on how to make the most of your life, by using it for the glory of God and in service to others. Far from being a head-in-the-clouds, esoteric look at life, this book tackles the real-world challenges of living life to its fullest as a Christian. Says Miller, "We need to get this matter of consecration down out of cloud-land into the region of actual, common daily living." And Making the Most of Life is the place Miller wrote his instructions on how to do just that.

J.R. Miller, D.D., was a pastor, author, and editor of the Presbyterian Board of Publication. He served as pastor in churches from Philadelphia to northern Illinois, and under his leadership every church he pastored grew to over 1,000 members in a short period of time. The title of his biography, written after his death in 1912, best sums up this godly man's life and philosophy, which was also one of his favorite phrases: “Jesus and I are friends.”
