The author spent over 35 years working as an employee of the Internal Revenue Service. Starting as a Tax Examiner auditing tax returns of both individuals and those of small businesses he also taught several tax courses within and outside the IRS. Joe Phillips spent most of his career working as an Appeals Officer which involved hearing the cases of taxpayers who did not agree with the proposed audit findings of the government with the objective of settling cases outside of court. For over 10 years during that time, he also worked as an independent distributor for Matol Botanical International, a network marketing company located in Lachine, Canada and taught Micro and Macro Economics at area community colleges. He currently spends his retirement time writing, playing piano and traveling with his wife, Pam
