Halim Mustafa Al-Kanemi was born Brooklyn, NY. He has spent the last 33 years as a practicing Muslim. Having spent time in the NOI under Min. Farrakhan (Oakland, CA ; Brooklyn, NY), The National Community of Imam Jamil Al-Amin, where he served in the capacity of Imam (spiritual leader) in Mobile, AL and prior to and afterwards as a Wazir (Minister of Health & Welfare and Finance) and a Islamic school teacher in Roosevelt, NY, and The Community of Imam WD Mohammed where he served as an Asst. Imam (Jamaica, NY; Baltimore, MD), Arabic Teacher (Baltimore, MD). He is currently the Arabic teacher as well as the Vice President of the Board of directors at Wayne Co. Islamic Society in Goldsboro, NC. He is a business owner-Kanembu House Publishers & Booksellers and is the Founder/ Director of the New African Heritage Society (NAHS) where he has developed courses in African-American history and African Studies through the organization's community education program: New African Village Forum (NAVF). The NAHS also produces a quarterly newsletter, NEW AFRICA RISES (NAR) and pamphlets in the New African History Series. He is the Event Coordinator for the Annual Community Unity Day. He is currently a divorced single father who has custody of his five youngest children.
