James Ray Ellerston, born in 1950, is a poet, historian, musician, father and husband who has traveled nine times to Europe, as well as western Canada and the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. He was a music educator for thirty-three years in Iowa, performing on violin and viola in community ensembles. He earned a B.A. from Central College (Pella, Iowa) in 1972, an M.S. in Education from Bemidji State University in 1976 and an additional B.A. in Management and Personnel from Buena Vista University in 1987. He resides in Fort Dodge, Iowa and has spent part of each summer for the past fifty-nine years at his cabin on Ten Mile Lake near Hackensack, Minnesota. He married his editor and wife Shelley in 1978.
