Daniel Nie, M.F.A., artist and workshop leader, has a lifetime of experience in the art of using Sumi-e ink and a pointed brush to create hieroglyphs. In 1990, he was an art professor at St. Andrews Presbyterian College and there, he developed a new art form he called “Coolligraphy.” This form of calligraphy intertwines the letters of a word or words to create an intricate hieroglyphic image. The art is not only unique, but the process of creating it also requires special skills that take years to perfect. Daniel’s Coolligraphy demonstrations always bring enjoyment and amazement to audiences at his exhibitions. Recipient of Sam Ragan NC Fine Arts Award in 2000, his workshops are well received by corporations, civic groups, and organizations. In the past 20 years, Nie traveled to different venues around the country to share his art and talent with thousands of his fans. Contact Daniel Nie: danielnie@aol.com
