A book about the Hindu origin of the Shrine, Crescent, Star, circumambulating - brought to the Middle East in the 2nd century BCE along the Silk Road Trade Route. Prior to Muhammad, the shrine at Mecca had been used to worship 360 deities. The Kaaba was originally used for polytheistic worship, and was modified when Muhammad threw out 359 of the idols. The 360 deities at the Kaaba suggests an association with eastern cultures and the worship of the heavens. Since the Hindu behavior was well established for many centuries prior to any record of the Kaaba's existence, it follows that any similar practices at the Kaaba came from the east. The practice of circumambulation, the crescent & star, the shape of the shrine, the black stone object and its relationship to the opening of metal at the corner are among many distinctive traits associated with the worship of Shiva. The Hindu use of mats (a sacred space for meditation) to yoke with forces (yoga) has a crescent pose, the symbol shared by the Hindu Shiva (destroyer) and Islam. This book investigates what the shrine was all about prior to Muhammad, and how much was carried-over into practices and ritual objects used today. Who Is Allah, The Hindu Connection reveals that Islam emerged from a previously polytheistic context. How much that polytheistic context influences the behavior and symbols of the current 1.6 billion adherents can be determined by the reader. It's sobering to think how people can become controlled by thoughts which are not their own.
