In Spain, former Green Beret Gage Hartline accepts a risky job inserting him into notorious Berga Prison—a place as sleazy as it is deadly. Charged with protecting the son of a wealthy mobster, Gage is pitted against rival gangs as well as corrupt government officials. He soon finds himself double-crossed by nearly everyone involved, leaving him on his own, fighting to survive. Gage has the training. Gage has the nerve. But will it be enough? The second novel in Chuck Driskell's Gage Hartline series, To The Lions uses Driskell's trademark recipe of thrills, suspense, espionage and romance to create a memorable tale that Kirkus Reviews describes as "scorching" and "crisp with innovation".

Before penning TO THE LIONS, I'd never planned on writing a series. After THE DIARIES, however, many readers wrote me and requested another book featuring Gage Hartline. Having been through the ringer of the military, his covert special operations team and the Hitler-related diary affair in THE DIARIES, I'd always thought Gage's troubled character had run his course. But after extended reflection, I realized that Gage's experience was actually cathartic. Here was this spy, this operative, highly-trained with nothing to do. After a few false starts, TO THE LIONS was born. It's not as "espionage-heavy" as THE DIARIES, but elements of espionage, international crime, and plenty of thrills are woven together to create a story that I'm proud of. The rich backdrop of Catalonian Spain doesn't hurt, either. I hope you enjoy it.Review:
