This beautiful book tells the story of one man’s efforts to fight poverty in some of China’s most impoverished regions. It charts the personal experience of Yang Yifeng—an editor-in-chief and reporter for the People’s Daily—who spent several years working on the front line as a poverty alleviation cadre, going into 20 towns and 199 administrative villages. Along the way, he wrote a moving, interesting, useful, and philosophical account of his personal experiences and practical work, with words that come straight from the heart.
