Learning Swahili is Fun! "My First Swahili Book" a fun and easy to read picture book that identifies objects, animals and nature in Swahili and English. The Book combines colorful and vibrant pictures that excite and provoke learning activities for children. Swahili (Kiswahili) is a Bantu (African) language spoken in East and Central Africa. It is the official language in Tanzania, and it is recognized officially as a national language in Kenya. Swahili is also widely used in the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire), Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and in parts of Somalia, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, and the Comoros Islands.

Helvi Itenge-Wheeler is an Author and the founder of Yambeka Children Media. A mother of two Helvi spent her childhood in Exile Angola and Zambia for almost 10 years during the liberation struggle of Namibia. After completing her high school in Namibia in 1997, Helvi moved to USA where she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from Wilberforce University in Ohio and a Master’s Degree in Education with a concentration in e-learning, at the University of Illinois. In July 2009, Helvi arrived in Nairobi, Kenya with her family as development volunteers. Helvi has published children books in English, Swahili and Oshiwambo.
