It seems that there are two different authors of these pieces. One is Connie Marie - the daughter, sister, wife, mother, and teacher. The other is Songmellow, the free spirit that was tucked away for many many years. The first poem expresses those two aspects of self: concrete and abstract, body and soul, black/white and full of color. Selections give an overview of the ebb and flow of life itself. Many are reflective of deep thought, and readers are encouraged to find THEIR relationship to the messages imbedded in the simple wording.

A teacher by profession, Constance M. England, M.Ed., CAS, wore many hats, providing not only direct services to students spanning both ends of the bell curve, but additionally coordinating a district-wide reading curriculum, designing programs for identifying gifted students, initiating early intervention strategies for students at risk, and incorporating art, music, and creative dramatics in her teaching. At age twelve, she started her life-long search for answers to the big questions, finding that her inquiries about such things went unanswered. Occasionally, another seeker of the deeper meaning of life passed through, but it was only in her retirement years that she found a like-minded community of soul-sisters, each one of them also having spent years of loneliness in her quest for what has come to be known as “awakening”. Now in her 70’s, England continues to find great pleasure in exploring the fields of music, art, philosophy, science, human nature, and the relationships within those fields. She has a peacefulness now in knowing that all things are related in Oneness. The question of where science and spirituality merge has now led England to the field of quantum physics. She is grateful for the life-experiences that have taken her from a coast-of-Maine born young girl to the free-spirit existence of today.
