Painting With Fabric
Artist Jeanine Malaney explains how to creating artworks utilizing fabric. This technique will allow you to paint a picture with fabric! It's not a typo...it is not painting on fabric, though Jeanine does utilize paints minimally for shading or highlighting; rather, this is creating a "painting" with the medium of fabric instead of paint! Soooooo fun and less threatening than using paints.
You will learn the process of finding an inspiration, establishing a design based on the elements of artistic composition, selecting appropriate fabrics, collage layering, use of paint for detail and shading. Jeanine Rivard Malaney studied art in college while earning her bachelor’s degree in theoretical mathematics from Indiana University. She left a career in aerospace to pursue her passion for art. Jeanine is best known for her watercolor paintings but also creates oil paintings, and in fabric artworks. She has taught several classes and published six books. She is recipient of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution’s very first Women in the Arts Recognition Award. Jeanine has served on several community boards and is a Hospice volunteer. Jeanine and husband Dale have five children and six grandchildren.
