It contains 100 pages, 179 exercises, and 376 color photos. The contents include: Section 1: Pilates Inspired Boardwork Exercises- This section converts traditional and progressive Pilates matwork exercises into movements appropriate for the added instability of the paddle board. Section 2: Pilates Boardwork Exercises with the Paddle- This section incorporates the paddle to add resistance to the exercises. Section 3: Pilates Miniball Boardwork Exercises- This section incorporates the Pilates miniball: a floating prop that adds further challenge to the exercises. Section 4: Cross-Training Using the BOSU & Reformer- This section demonstrates indoor exercises that can be done to cross-train for stand up paddle boarding using the BOSU and the Pilates Reformer. Eme Cole grew up in the Chicagoland area where she devoted the majority of her childhood to competitive gymnastics. She received a full athletic scholarship to Bowling Green State University and graduated with a BS in Exercise Physiology. She began her career by moving to Colorado where she specialized in sport-specific conditioning for the Aspen ski and snowboard teams and coached the girls gymnastics team. After two years in Colorado, Eme moved back to Illinois to obtain her MS in Kinesiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Upon completion of a certification through the American College of Sports Medicine, she spent several years personal training clients and teaching group fitness classes. Eme was introduced to Pilates in 2001 as a treatment for a recurring back injury acquired from gymnastics. Impressed by its rehabilitative qualities, she chose to devote her career to teaching Pilates and became certified through The PhysicalMind Institute. In July of 2002, Eme opened her own business Pilates PLUS Cross-Training Studio in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood where she continues to offer innovative teaching methods. In 2005, Eme authored, self-published and marketed a series of manuals titled ‘The Pilates Movement’ for instructors to use with their clients. In 2012 she authored a second edition titled ‘Pilates Expanded,’ which features the original content plus an additional 30% more innovative exercises. After falling in love with Stand Up Paddle boarding in 2011, Eme began experimenting with ways to combine the 2 core based activities. This book is the compilation of her efforts.
