Katy S. Duffield was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, and lived in the state most of her life. The annual yelling contest in Yell County, Arkansas, served as the inspiration for Loud Lula. The only time Katy hollers is when she sees a snake―or when somebody eats all the gravy before her biscuits have been properly covered. She is the author of eighteen children’s books, including Farmer McPeepers and His Missing Milk Cows, illustrated by Steve Gray, which received multiple state award nominations and honors. Mike Boldt grew up on a steady diet of playing Legos, reading Calvin and Hobbes and Spiderman, watching Disney movies, building tree forts, eating ice cream, and drawing and creating stories. He is the author and/or illustrator of nine books for children. He both wrote and illustrated 123 versus ABC, which received a starred review in Kirkus Reviews, and its companion book Colors versus Shapes. Mike also recently created the artwork for I Don’t Want to Be a Frog by Dev Petty and Tiara Saurus Rex by Brianna Caplan Sayres. He lives in the Alberta plains of Canada with his own LOUD brood.
