The International Commission on Radiological Protection begins releasing the long-awaited revised dose coefficients relating to its 2007 recommendations. This first part covers monitoring and assessing internal occupational exposures to radionuclides, biokinetic and dosimetric models, methods of individual and workplace monitoring, monitoring programs, general aspects of retrospective dose assessment and retrospective dose verification, and data provided for elements and radioisotopes. Part of the delay has been due to a shift from stylized mathematical representations of body organs and their position to reference anatomical male and female models based on medical imaging data.
