Kenig describes recent developments in the study of the long-time asymptotics of large solutions to critical nonlinear dispersive equations. He begins by examining the concentration-compactness/rigidity theory method--which he and F. Merle introduced--in the context of the energy critical wave equation. This approach has become the canonical method for studying the global regularity and well-posedness conjecture and the ground-state conjecture in critical dispersive problems. Then he considers the channel of energy method that the two of them introduced along with T. Duyckaerts to study soliton resolution for nonlinear wave equations. The approaches provide a model for studying other nonlinear dispersive equations. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
